uPVC Sash Window Repairs

Balances, gaskets, locks and misted units repaired on uPVC vertical sliders — no full replacement needed.

uPVC vertical sliders are sold as maintenance-free, which lasts right up until a balance tires or a gasket hardens. The frame itself is usually fine, so replacing the whole window is rarely the sensible answer — we repair the moving parts and the glazing instead.

What we repair

Failed spiral and constant-force balances, snapped tilt catches, worn brush seals, hardened gaskets, sticking locks and misted sealed units.

We can also re-seat sashes that have dropped out of square and no longer meet at the rails.

Honest advice on replacement

If the frame has gone brittle or the welds have opened up we will tell you plainly that repair is not worth your money.

Where you would rather move back to timber, we can quote a hardwood replacement to match the original opening.

Common uPVC faults we see

  • Sash drops when released or refuses to stay open
  • Draughts around the meeting rail despite the seals
  • Misted or cloudy double glazing
  • Locks and catches that no longer line up
