Service

Casement Windows

Side-hung timber casements repaired, re-hung and weather-sealed, or made new to match.

Casements take more weather than any other window in the house, because the whole leaf swings out into it. Most of the failures we see are at the bottom rail and the hinge knuckle — both repairable, neither a reason to replace a sound frame.

Repair work

Rot cut out and spliced with matching hardwood, cills renewed, hinges replaced in stainless where the originals have rusted, and stays and fasteners refitted.

Old putty raked out and re-puttied by hand so the glazing line looks right from the street.

New casements made to match

Where a window is beyond saving we make a copy: same section sizes, same glazing bar widths, same opening pattern, with slim double glazing where you want it.

Made in hardwood as standard and finished in a factory-applied microporous paint system.

Signs you need this service

  • Soft or dark timber along the bottom rail
  • Window will not shut without a firm shoulder
  • Rusted hinges staining the paintwork
  • Draughts and water sitting on the internal cill
